WOW 3 Vintage MOD TNT Quick Curl Kelley Barbie Walking Miss America LOT OFS BIN
Here are 3 lovely Mod ladies from the early to mid-70's; gorgeous Redhead Quick Curl Kelley, 1972 Brunette Walking Miss America, and the last issue Blonde Quick Curl Barbie from 1976! Quick Curl Kelley and Walking Miss America have the popular Steffie head mold, which I think was used on some of the prettiest dolls in the TNT era. All of these dolls have been played with, so they are not for "Mint" collectors. Walking Miss America is in great shape with little obvious wear, and she has her hard-to-find Miss America sash, "scepter" and red rose bouquet.

The Quick Curl dolls have curlable hair that contains wire filaments, so both QC Kelley and QC Barbie will need some hair styling help. If you are patient and good with hair, you could probably restyle these girls so that their hair looks more original. I don't rate anything as "Mint" unless I've just taken it out of its original packaging. If you have a question that I don't address in the description, please ask me. Please note that in the pics, I have put rubber bands around QC Kelley's and QC Barbie's heads to help "train" their hair into the original style.

Their hair will be a little messier if you take the rubber band off. See pics #11 & 12, the dolls do not have the rubber bands on their hair in those pics. On the left, Quick Curl Kelley looks great with nice coloring and all original make-up. She has lots of cheek blush, no wear on her features, and no pale, faded spots.

She has a single tap mark at each ear, but no green staining or paling there. She seems to have all of her hair; I don't think there's any missing plugs, though I think her hair could be parted better so that the thickness is more evenly distributed. The hair does have some dryness and a little frizz, typical for the Quick Curl hair that's been played with. She has curls at the bottom of her hair, and her hair is matted into the curls. No neck tears or nose nips. Her Near Mint TNT body is marked 1966 Taiwan on the right side of her butt.

She doesn't have any stains or poke marks. These Taiwan bodies are fragile, so I would caution against any vigorous movement, as often the arms and legs can break where they join the torso. She has her original green polka dot dress on.

Amazingly, the sheer nylon sleeves are not snagged or torn. Both snaps are present on the back of the dress. The dress does have tannish soil down the front, side and back of the skirt, and in the center of the bodice.

Maybe you can try spot cleaning it, though I might warn against submerging the black trim in water. Walking Miss America is quite stunning with loads of lush, dark curls! Her soft hair has nice shine; she has regular hair material, it is not the Quick Curl hair. She has all of her rooted eyelashes.

Her original make-up is all there, with nice peachy blush. Her make-up looks nice and strong, with no apparent wear. No earring holes, neck tears, or green ear stains. Her crown is pinned to her head in 2 places with straight pins.

You could use bobby pins to pin the crown on, or dark thread to sew it on if you like. The straight pins will not corrode, so you're probably fine leaving the crown the way it is. Her Near Mint walking body is marked 1967 Taiwan on her lower back. Her walking mechanism works just fine; her head turns and her arms move back and forth in opposition when you move her legs back and forth. She has a small 1/8 around pink spot at the top of her left leg, visible in pic #12.

This pink spot is pretty high up on her leg, so it shouldn't show even when she's wearing short shorts. Her original gown is in overall nice shape; the bodice has a few loose gold threads, but not too much wear to the top. The satin underskirt is an aged off-white and slightly dingy at the hem; and the white nylon overskirt has some light snagging, more on the sides and back of the skirt, than on the front. The skirt has attached white nylon shorts underneath, that need a small seam repair at the crotch.

This should be a simple 1/2 seam repair. Her satin Miss America sash is hard to find, and in good shape. I think it was originally stitched to her dress' shoulder strap, but it is loose now.

Her regal red cape with spotted furry trim is very clean and in great shape; it has 2 gold straps that slip over Miss America's shoulders. It could use a press, as it has gotten wrinkled in storage. Miss America has her silver plastic scepter, which is also hard to find, and her bouquet of 3 red roses. The original owner used the stems of the roses to attach the bouquet to the scepter; you could undo that if you like. Quick Curl Barbie is the last issue #9217 Quick Curl doll from 1976 ; she has a different style of painted features from the earlier Quick Curl dolls, and she is rarer than the earlier QC dolls. She has the same style painted features as the desirable 1976 Beautiful Bride Barbie, only she doesn't have the rooted eyelashes that Beautiful Bride Barbie has. Her facial features look good with little wear; she has peachy lips and coloring. She doesn't have any earring holes, green ear stains, faded spots, nose dings or neck tears.

But her hair really needs some help. Her hair has some thin spots on the top of her head, see pic #10.

Some of her hair plugs are thin in these areas. I think if you re-part the hair better, you could style her hair over these thin areas. The curls at the bottom of her hair in back are matted together.

If you don't mind fussing with her hair patiently, you could separate out some hair from the matted curls in back, and restyle some of them over the thin areas. Her Near Mint body is marked 1966 Taiwan on the center of her butt. She doesn't have any poke marks or stains, and all of her joints attach firmly to her torso. Her knees each bend 3 times each. She has her original pink checked dress with sheer sleeves. The dress is pretty clean and looks pretty good from the front. The sheer back and sleeve material has many tiny snags, and the sleeve on the right has a 1 1/4 long tear below the elbow, visible in pic #9. The snap at the neck closure in back needs 1/2 of it resewn (it is safety pinned shut right now). The back waist snap also needs 1/2 of the snap resewn.
